On Top Of The World Ma, On Top Of The World
Hello all,
Especially all the people who saw us at the Nottingham Beer festival - all 500 of you! Yes, there were that many there so have a look at our snaps and see if you are in the crowd shots. A few technical problems have plagued us over the last few gigs, usually to do with power supply which has the potential to make the sound system a bit unpredictable - you ask the organisers what power they have (we need at least a 32 amp supply) and they puff and bluster and say - "yes, its 32 amp" - we never spot the fingers crossed behind their backs. The reality is a length of cable, with at least 7 joints in it exposed to the public over footbaths and then suspended over trees overĀ a distance of 150 - 200 metres. The supply from that single cable fed three consumer boards with four outlets each. The PA levels were a bit up and down and there was an earth hum and no qualified electrician. We went on at 6:10, exactly 13 minutes after the supply was finally connected - good job we only have a 6.5K PA with 1.3K foldback! The crowd were great - yes you - Sharon signed some CD's, we gave some away, and too late we learned that we are now NUMBER BLOODY 6 in the Reverb Nation Alternative chart out of almost 15000 bands and within the top 100 from around 250K bands worlwide. Great stuff and thanks............................................ particularly to Ted and Andie who managed the desk and thanks to Verbal Warning for an excellent shared gig. These guys worked hard and entertained the crowd for near on 2 hours.
Last night (the day after the footsore 500) we played The Attic in Whitwell Derbyshire. A great venue which demonstrates just what you can do with a little bit of cash and imagination. 'Perfect' our sound engineer and erstwhile drummer was heard to say - the best sound we have ever had. We could have had more people in there but what the hell, it was a good night with a good number of the audience up dancing. Looking ahead there are some great bands coming up courtesy of WAG Promotions and venues like this need supporting - we will be going again whether we are playing or not.
KEEP MUSIC LIVE, SUPPORT YOU LOCAL VENUE AND YOUR LOCAL BANDS
Keep on rocking,
Steve
